Some homes just speak to you the moment you see them, and for this family, this Mt Martha home did exactly that. Set in a quiet neighbourhood with timeless charm and a layout that’s perfect for relaxed living, it instantly felt like the right place to create lasting memories.
Purchased as a holiday home for the family to unwind and reconnect, the property didn’t need renovating – just furnishing and thoughtful styling to bring it to life. Among all the options our client explored, MORC stood out for our ability to deliver a complete, elevated look without needing to renovate or tear anything down.
What made the process even more appealing was our end-to-end service: we handled all deliveries, stored everything safely in our warehouse, and brought it all together in a single-day installation. With limited access to the home, this gave our client peace of mind, knowing she could walk in and find the space completely styled and ready to enjoy.
The Brief
The vision was clear: to create a timeless coastal retreat that felt calm, inviting, and ready for the whole family to enjoy. With renovations planned for the ground floor later on, the top level became the immediate focus – encompassing four bedrooms, two living areas, a dining space, and the kitchen.
One key part of the brief was allowing flexibility around certain pieces. The client, understandably particular about comfort, wanted to choose her own sofas – taking the time to trial them in-store and make the most of a great sale. When she found the perfect ones, she made the purchase and our stylists designed the rest of the package to complement her selection.
Styling Without Stepping Inside
This project came with a unique challenge: the home was tenanted during the planning stage, so no site visits were possible. But we’ve done this before, and we know how to make it work.
Our team used floor plans and real estate photos to visualise the space. With a trained eye for spatial planning, our Stylists mapped out every room, ensuring that proportions, flow, and function were all considered down to the smallest detail.
Installation Day
One of the most considered design moments for this project was in the open-plan living and dining space. Open layouts often come with the challenge of feeling either too crowded or too disconnected, but our stylists approached the space with precision and intention. Two occasional armchairs were strategically placed to define the zones, creating subtle separation without disrupting the overall flow. Their tone introduced a soft contrast to the palette, adding both extra seating and a refined sense of balance.
This careful attention to detail extended throughout the entire upper floor. We layered soft linens and warm, natural timbers with woven textures to evoke a relaxed, coastal vibe. Accents in soothing blues, greens, and touches of coral added just the right amount of colour without overwhelming the atmosphere, and faux greenery was carefully selected to bring life to every space.
The Result
The transformation left a lasting impression on the entire family. The client was genuinely overjoyed with the final result, describing the experience as seamless, enjoyable, and far beyond what she had imagined. Her children’s reaction made the moment even more special – they lit up at the sight of their new bedroom and ran straight to their lounge area, climbing onto the sofa and beanbags and diving into play without a second thought. It was a space designed with both beauty and family life in mind – something the client deeply appreciated.
